Recognize the reason for the call
Capture whether the inquiry concerns an outage at a property, a breaker issue, an outlet or fixture, panel work, or an installation quote. Use the caller’s description rather than labeling a fault the AI cannot verify. A commercial tenant may need different authorization and access arrangements from a homeowner.
Office-hours and service-area questions can use approved business information. Detailed electrical recommendations, repair steps, and firm project prices belong with the contractor.
Use a conservative route for safety reports
If a caller reports sparking, smoke, or a burning smell, follow the business’s approved safety escalation language. Do not guide them through live electrical work or treat the AI as an emergency response service. Where there is immediate danger, the workflow should direct the caller to appropriate emergency help rather than promise an electrician will arrive.
Set the urgent destination and unavailable-person fallback during setup. An escalation request in a summary does not mean a person has answered or that emergency service has been dispatched.
Collect enough context for a useful callback
For a fixture installation, collect the property address, the type of work requested, and suitable times for an estimate. For a reported outage, record the affected location and the caller’s observations without diagnosing its cause. Confirm who can provide access to the property.
A sample note might say: “Office manager requests an estimate for additional outlets at the shop; weekday morning callback preferred.” It should not say the panel has sufficient capacity unless a qualified person has established that.
Schedule assessments with real availability
Configured booking can offer available assessment appointments using approved appointment types. If the calendar is not connected or a suitable slot is absent, collect a request. After-hours intake should distinguish routine installations from reports requiring urgent human review.
Plan for quote calls as well as urgent calls
Estimate conversations may last longer than a simple hours question. Compare expected connected minutes with Launch at $199/month, Growth at $399/month, and Scale at $699/month. Each has a defined minute allowance and overage rate; none is unlimited. No setup fee. Cancel anytime.
Sample information to capture
Configure only the fields needed for this workflow. These are illustrative fields, not a real caller record.
- Caller, callback, and property address
- Residential or commercial context
- Requested work or reported observation
- Safety concern in the caller’s words
- Access contact and preferred time
- Routing outcome and pending next step
Questions about this workflow
Does it troubleshoot breakers or wiring?
No. The receptionist captures the inquiry and uses approved routing. It should not instruct callers to perform electrical troubleshooting.
Can it quote panel work?
It can share a configured, approved policy or arrange an estimate request. It cannot invent a project quote or certify the condition of a panel.
Can callers speak to the contractor?
A real transfer is possible when configured. If a person cannot be reached, collect a message or callback request and describe that outcome accurately.
